If you hear of a weather-controlling app, please let us know immediately! Until then, we do our very best to work around, and with, variable weather. In the couple weeks prior to your event, we’ll watch the forecasts like hawks. If it’s looking too dicey, we have three options: (1) move the mural indoors (2) rent a very large event tent with walls that seal to the ground or (3) reschedule. In your paperwork agreement with us, we will go into all of these details. It has to be fairly severe rain and/or high winds to force us to reschedule. Usually we can cover the artwork with tarps and duct tape to protect it through a moderate to heavy rain, or create upon an alternative surface.

We sure do! And if we can’t, we can look into shipping your artwork from our DC studio.

If you want to invest in a permanent ground mural, we will use paints instead of chalk. In some cases, we will then apply a durable clear sealant atop the painted mural. This can work in outdoor or indoor environments.

Every city has different requirements for permits. Some cities do not require them at all, while other cities require renderings and fees submitted before the event. Regardless of your area, we are used to navigating these civic mazes and committed to finding answers so that we can color your world! If our collaboration with you is part of a marketing campaign, signage and advertising laws often dictate your permit, as it would with any other type of mural advertisement or billboard. In our agreement, you’ll sign on to accepting responsibility for securing any necessary permits.

Cleaning prices are not included in our brochures or estimates. if you need the chalk mural power-washed off of the pavement immediately after an event, we will recommend a power-washing service local to your area. Most of our clients prefer to let the chalk gradually erode away on its own, as some consider the ephemeral nature to be an asset of the art form.

Because every mural site is so unique, each chalk piece will have its own unique life span. Factors such as foot traffic, weather, and vehicle and bike traffic all contribute to varying art durability. But to give you a rough idea, we've found that a chalk piece drawn onto standard sidewalk cement will last 5-10 days in great condition if left untouched in gorgeous California weather. We've seen pieces last as long as one month or more at 75% quality. We will adjust our materials and methods to accomplish whatever goals you may have for your campaign or event.

In general, we’re consistently booking for events and installations 2-6 months out, depending on the scope of the project. We have a rush fee for any request with less than a three week turnaround.
