Chinatown Park

The Crossroads Pavement Mural Project takes its name from the cultural and social overlaps of Chinese and Jewish communities, which both share rich histories and present day life on the same city block in Washington, DC. The intersections are literal and abstract, unfolding along I Street NW in between 5th and 6th Streets NW. This pavement mural project first and foremost is an effort to curb traffic violence in an area fraught with extreme speeding, collisions between vehicles, nearly impossible cycling and more. Many pedestrians in the immediate area are elderly, which makes walking even more vulnerable as slower paces and limited mobility are common.
